Common Spaces

The garden includes several commonly held areas devoted to different garden types. While stewarded by individual volunteers, these sites are the responsibility of the garden membership at large.

How It Works

All these gardens require the regular care that any well-maintained garden needs:

  • Spring cleaning and thinning out

  • Watering regularly

  • Weeding and deadheading

  • Planting, as needed

Volunteers work under the direction of the specific area leads. Below is a listing of the various shared-responsibility gardens:

East Fence Garden, a new addition site has been established along the east fence at the north end of the garden. Contact TBD.

Flower/Herb Garden, located between the grape arbor and the gazebo, is filled with a wide variety of herbs and flowers that attract pollinators. Anyone interested in volunteering should contact Lisa Torrieri at lisatorrieri@icloud.com.

Grape Arbor is located in the heart of the garden next to the patio and maintained by Mark Raymond. Anyone interested in helping out, should contact him at mwraymond@comcast.net.

Pollinator Garden is located at the northeast corner of the garden, next to the beehives. Designed to support native pollinators, the garden is planted with nectar-rich plants. If you’d like to help out in the pollinator garden, contact Pauline Candaux at pcandaux@gmail.com.

Rock Garden is located along the east fence, south of the composting toilet. Volunteers interested in helping out should contact Mark Raymond at mwraymond@comcast.net.

Shade Garden(s): There are two shade gardens–one located to the south of the pollinator garden and the other just inside the east gate–that are populated with shade-tolerant plants. To volunteer, contact Lisa Rubens at lisarubens22@gmail.com.

West Gate Garden, just inside the west gate and along part of the front fence, is planted largely in roses. In addition, there are roses planted throughout the garden. If you’d like to help out, contact Linda Witt at lindawitt@me.com.
