The Executive Committee

The Executive Committee is charged with administering the garden’s business, including finances, external communications/requests, membership, and other items identified in the by-laws.

Officers are elected to two-year terms annually at the November meeting and limited to two consecutive terms. Elections are staggered: The president and corresponding secretary are elected in even years and the vice chair, treasurer, and recording secretary in odd years.

This year’s officers are:

  • Chair: Cassie Ehrenberg

  • Vice Chair: Patty White

  • Treasurer: Greg Line

  • Recording Secretary: Lazlo Beh

  • Corresponding Secretary: Nancy Brokaw

Executive Committee (EC) Responsibilities:

  • The Chair represents the garden to external entities (Neighborhood Garden Trust (NGT), Queen Village Neighborhood Association, incoming and outgoing members). Other responsibilities include management of the annual and strategic budget, monthly meetings, and membership status. The chair also communicates with new members on their responsibilities and with members not in compliance with garden requirements.

  • The Vice Chair acts as the garden manager by developing task lists for and managing clean-ups. The vice chair works with Row Captains on periodic garden inspections and fields maintenance and supply requests.

  • The Treasurer maintains the garden account, pays bills, reimburse members for approved expenses, and reports on monthly expenses/revenues at each meeting. In addition, the treasurer advises the EC on the garden budget and expenses.

  • The Recording Secretary records, distributes, and archives meeting minutes; maintains the master list of gardeners (including attendance records); and collects signed agreements from all members each year.

  • The Correspondence Secretary monitors the gmail account; sends out agendas, minutes, and other announcements as needed; monitors the wait list; and works with the chair on correspondence, as needed.

  • Miscellaneous Administrative Responsibilities: The following tasks can be assigned to any officer: provide sign-up sheets at clean-ups; record attendance at meetings and clean-ups; record independent clean-up credits; manage updates to the garden map; plan and coordinate special events.

All members of the Executive Committee serve on the Garden Council.
